Professional carpet cleaning methods

Maintaining a clean and tidy desk is more than just about aesthetics. Your workspace directly affects your mindset and efficiency. A cluttered desk can contribute to a cluttered mind, while a neat, organized one can enhance focus, boost morale, and even reduce stress. Whether you work from home or in a traditional office setting, here’s how you can keep your desk clean and tidy.

After all those office parties, there’s no better time than January to give your office carpets a professional, deep clean. There are several different techniques for cleaning carpets, depending on the type of carpet, and the cleaning requirements.

Hot Water Extraction

This is one of the most popular methods for deep cleaning carpets. A professional carpet cleaning machine heats water mixed with a cleaning solution in a tank until it’s hot. This is then sprayed onto the carpet and the cleaning solution helps to loosen dirt and grime. The water is then vacuumed out along with the dirt.

Pros: Deep cleaning as it removes embedded dirt and grime as well as allergens.

Cons: has a long drying time and is not suitable for all carpets

Bonnet Cleaning

A professional carpet cleaning machine is used which has a special pad or cloth attached to a rotating buffer. The pad is soaked in cleaning solution and as the pad rotates, the carpet fibres are agitated, and the pad picks up the dirt from the carpet.

This method of cleaning is perfect if you just want to give your carpet a quick clean or if you want to spot clean certain areas.

Pros: It’s quick to do and the carpet has a fast drying time as less water is used.

Cons: It’s not suitable for deep cleaning carpets as it’s not as effective at picking up ingrained dirt and debris as the hot water extraction method above.

Dry Cleaning

Specialised cleaning powders or compounds are spread over the carpet. These powders are designed to absorb any general dirt from the carpet fibres. The powder is distributed over the carpet and left for a short time to allow it to work. Once the powder has absorbed the dirt from the carpet, it is then vacuumed away.

Pros: This is a quick process as there is no drying time. This method can be used on delicate carpets which can’t be cleaned using water

Cons: not as effective for deep cleaning or carpets which are heavily soiled

Specialised Stain Removal

Professional carpet cleaners have specialist products which target different types of stains such as wine, coffee, ink, oil and grease. These are applied directly to the stain prior to cleaning, using whichever method is most suitable.

As you can see, there isn’t really one clear winner when it comes to methods for cleaning carpets. It really does depend on the type of carpet and how much of a deep clean is needed.
