History

The CLD Group as we know it today began life as CLD Services Ltd which was established in 1973 by the late Eric Laker. The company was purchased in 1980 by the Lester group.

In October 1981, Alan Shellard, the managing director of the Lester group resigned his position and purchased CLD with its turnover of £110,000, with the aim of expanding the business by offering customers a personalised service.

In the years that followed the company continued to succeed in a highly competitive market by expanding further to provide a complete building maintenance service. This was subsequently improved when in April 2001 we set up a maintenance division to cope with the ever expanding building maintenance side of our business.

In July 2004 we further expanded the company’s services with the creation of CLD Hygiene; the part of our business that provides all our washroom hygiene and janitorial services.  Through a strong work ethic and a guaranteed 100% service promise CLD Hygiene has grown at a staggering rate and helped push the groups current turnover to in excess of five million pounds.

This growth has been achieved by maintaining a personalised service and strict supervision, with regular contact with both client and staff, in line with our BS EN ISO 9001:2008.  It would not have been possible without the ethos instilled in the staff by our late chairman, Alan Shellard, who sadly passed away in October 2004.

It is the intention of the management team to continually expand the business within its financial and managerial capabilities and widen still further the services we currently offer.
